A publisher conference to look forward to

The annual PubWest conference, held February 7-9, 2019, at La Fonda on the Plaza in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

PubWest, a trade association formerly known as the Rocky Mountain Book Publishers Association, puts on fun and informative conferences. Today they released this attractive poster for the conference.

As the editor and publisher of Granite Peak Publications, I have attended two PubWest conferences so far: 2018 in Pasadena, California, and 2017 in Portland, Oregon. The highlights of last year’s conference for me were the pre-conference publishers roundtable, the spelling bee (I was in the top two!), and a visit on my own to the Norton Simon Museum, where I spent most of my time with the European paintings and outside in the sculpture garden and cafe.

This year I joined as an associate member of PubWest as well, to promote my freelance editing business. So I have both an online listing and a longer description in the print directory. I enjoy working with individuals and publishers on their nonfiction books, especially art exhibition catalogues, scholarly books, and travel. To discuss my editorial services, you are welcome to use my contact form or find my phone number in Lake Forest Park, Washington, USA.

Update, April 2019: I decided not to attend this year after a bad January for my health (flu) and with the ACES conference and IPG summit to look forward to as well. Here’s to next year in Portland!
